Why is Tyler Adams not playing for USMNT against Belgium today?
USMNT midfielder Adams misses Belgium friendly after suffering a quad injury with Bournemouth in another setback-filled season.

Tyler Adams is not playing in the USMNT’s pre-World Cup 2026 friendly against Belgium in Atlanta today because of a quad injury sustained with Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Quad injury keeps Adams out of USMNT friendlies
After appearing in three successive games at the end of February and the start of March, Adams dropped out of Bournemouth’s squad for the Cherries’ last two matches against Burnley and Manchester United because of the issue.
That injury led to the 27-year-old being omitted from Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT squad for this week’s friendlies against Belgium and Portugal.
“Tyler is not going to be available, as you suppose, because he hasn’t been in the squad for the U.S.,” club manager Andoni Iraola told reporters at a news conference before Bournemouth faced United on March 20.
Another frustrating setback for Adams
Adams played only three Premier League games in 2023-24, his first season with Bournemouth, because of a recurring hamstring problem. The American stayed fit for most of last season, appearing 32 times in all competitions, but had another significant spell on the treatment table either side of the New Year.
When will Tyler Adams be back?
The New York-born midfielder, who has become a key player for Bournemouth, missed 10 games with a medial ligament tear and is expected to be sidelined for another week or two because of his latest issue.
