AC Milan are close to securing the signing of Yunus Musah from Valencia after making a series of offers for the young midfielder.

Musah, still aged just 20, has made more than 100 appearances for Valencia since signing for the LaLiga club in 2019. He has been capped by USMNT on 27 occasions and drew the attention of Premier League sides West Ham United and Fulham earlier this summer.

However it looks like AC Milan have won the race to sign the talented midfielder on a deal reportedly worth €20million ($22m).

Musah had impressed for Valencia in previous seasons but he lost his place in head coach Ruben Baraja’s team for the season half of the 2022/23 season. A move to Milan offers the chance for the talented young midfielder to re-establish his reputation as a top prospect.

At Milan he will join up with USMNT captain Christian Pulisic, who made the move to San Siro earlier this summer. Pulisic signed for Milan after leaving Premier League side Chelsea, where he was deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Musah also arrives in Milan after slipping down the pecking order at his previous club. The young midfielder had been a regular with the Spanish side since joining from Arsenal in 2019.

With the two American stars linking up at a major European club, USMNT fans will be hoping that the two can reignite their careers in Italy. Speaking about Pulisic during last year’s World Cup, Musah was full of praise for his new club teammate:

“[Pulisic] brings a lot to the team. A great guy off the field, a very nice guy. And on the field, everyone sees his brilliance,” Musah told reporters.

“I’m very happy that he’s my teammate, I always get to learn from him and he’s a great guy.”

Musah will become the latest San Siro incoming this summer as Milan look to strengthen a team that reached the semi-final of the Champions League in 2022/23. England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek followed in the footsteps of Pulisic from Chelsea, while highly-rated winger Samuel Chukwueze arrives from Villarreal.

Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders joins from AZ Alkmaar and RB Salzburg forward Noah Okafor will boost the team’s striking options.
