Zapata denied entry into the bank because of his appearance
The Atalanta striker went to the private bank Fideuram in a tracksuit, making the security members suspicious.
Duván Zapata is enjoying a period of good fortune at Atalanta, who currently sit in second place in Serie A; Napoli are the only team above them and are ahead by a single win (8 wins to 7 out of 10 games played). However, the Colombian star was the protagonist of a surprising moment in Bergamo, this time off the pitch.
The footballer’s aim was to go inside the private bank Fideuram, where he was meeting with his financial adviser to discuss various issues. However, upon arrival, security agents, failing to recognise him due to his clothing, a simple pair of sweatpants and a hooded sweatshirt, stopped the player from entering. “Where do you think you’re going?”, the security members asked him.
Wearing a tracksuit in such a place made the agents suspicious, despite Zapata making an attempt to identify himself and say exactly why he should be allowed entry to the bank. The conversation lasted several minutes, until the head of the Fideuram branch intervened, as reported by ‘Gazzetta’.
The agents were unaware that Zapata was a client of theirs.
It was the manager who was able to make the Colombian striker get around the security, although he didn’t hesitate to admit to the media that the people on the door were just doing their job: “Duván is one of our clients, but security couldn’t have known that. The employees were simply doing their job, providing us with a security service in an intermediate space between the entrance and the street”, he concluded.
