Zidane and Conte being considered for Juventus bench

According to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’, the board at the Turin based club is considering replacing Allegri with the Frenchman or with the Tottenham coach.

Massimiliano Allegri has overseen a fine run for his Juventus time amid turmoil in the boardroom which saw the entire board stand down at the end of November.

Going into Friday’s Serie A clash away to Napoli, the ‘Bianconeri’ had been on a seven game winning run without shipping a goal which has led to the Turin based club climbing to second in the table. The wheels came off however at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli beating Juve 5-1 which lead to a throwback to the early part of the season where Juve struggled and were fortunate to progress in Europe securing just three points in the Champions League group stage.

Although Allegri’s current conditions make an immediate change on the bench almost impossible as reported by Italian sports daily Tuttosport as it would cost Juventus 45 million euro alone just to sack him, let alone the rest of his coaching staff.

The club are working in the background looking for an alternative should the team continue to disappoint on the pitch with Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte being considered as candidates to possibly replace Allegri. The former is still free (no longer having the option of becoming French coach) and would relish the chance to return to his former club while the latter has not yet renewed his commitment to Tottenham.

Zizou, firm favourite for Juve fans

The new season would herald a new era at the club and a change on the bench cannot be ruled out. In the meantime, Juve tifosi have made their views clear after 41.5% of readers who participated in a Gazzetta poll requested Zidane as new coach with Allegri, securing just 16.3% of the overall poll. The 55-year-old has five months of the season left to amend this situation.
