Hammers looking to avoid relegation battle
For much of the season, it’s looked as if West Ham could become involved in a relegation battle and it could still be the case if teams below them can get their act together. David Moyes’ men have posted important victories over Southampton, Fulham and Bournemouth in recent weeks and did brilliantly to come back from two goals down to draw against Arsenal. However, consecutive losses to Liverpool and Crystal Palace mean they are still looking nervously over their shoulders.
United on course for Champions League qualification
Despite throwing away a two-goal lead in a draw against Champions League rivals Spurs at the end of April, United look set to return to Europe’s elite club competition after a fine run of Premier League form. After losing 2-0 to Newcastle, Erik Ten Hag’s men took 13 points from a possible 15, giving them a comfortable top-four cushion heading into the final few matches of the season. The Red Devils’ away form has been rather sketchy, however, with two wins, three draws and three losses in their last seven league fixtures on the road. Matters haven’t been helped by a number of injuries, especially in defence, with Ten Hag will hope clear up before too long.
