Embiid addresses “anywhere else” comments on viral video

The internet went wild when Joel Embiid made a comment implying he may be leaving the Sixers, but the Philly star has addressed that comment.

On Monday, the internet went crazy after Philadelphia 76ers star made this comment in an interview:

“I just want to win a championship. Whatever it takes. I don’t know where that’s gonna be whether it’s in Philly or anywhere else, I just want to have a chance to accomplish that”.

That “anywhere else” part got Sixer fans quite worried that they could be losing their best player soon. Though he’s been great for Philly, winning the MVP award after an incredible season last year, Philly hasn’t been as great for him. They once again couldn’t make it beyond Round 2 of the playoffs and it would make sense if Embiid was getting tired of not winning championships with Philadelphia and began to look elsewhere.

However, Embiid posted his reaction to the concerns on Twitter.

Joel “Troel” seems to be implying that he was just trolling, but the comment certainly doesn’t come off as a joke when you listen to the interview. Rather, it just sounds like a comment he made without thinking much of it at all. It’s definitely something Philly should be thinking about as they build their team around him and make these offseason moves. Just in case he’s not Troel-ing forever.
