PRO BOWL
Josh Allen snubbed from 2024 NFL Pro Bowl: Who were the biggest snubs?
There are many good players in the league and it must be tough to decide who goes to the Pro Bowl, but snubbing some has left us scratching our heads.
The players headed to the 2024 NFL Pro Bowl on February 4 have been decided. Of course, there are many deserving players on that list, but some others with standout years have been left off, leaving the internet in a typical rage. The line must be drawn somewhere, and yet it’s still hard to look at these players and understand how they are not a 2024 Pro Bowler.
QB Josh Allen - Bills
The Buffalo Bills quarterback is still one of the best in the whole league and the leader in touchdowns with 27 passing touchdowns and 15 rushing touchdowns (42 total) with 16 interceptions. Instead, the three AFC quarterbacks are Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Tua Tagovailoa. If Allen’s interceptions seem like a lot, let’s put it into perspective. Mahomes has just two fewer at 14 interceptions, but has just 27 total touchdowns on the season, and Allen’s QBR and success rate are both higher than Mahomes’.
DE DeMarcus Lawrence - Cowboys
DeMarcus Lawrence is one of the best defenders in the league and his stats for this season are amongst some of the best. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the top pass rusher in interior plays and fourth best among interior and edge players. Only Aaron Donald tops him in defensive interior play win percentages. 27 solos, four sacks, and one forced fumble are Pro Bowl stats, and yet...
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown - Lions
Amon-Ra St. Brown is the main reason for the Lions’ success this season. After Week 17, he has 112 receptions for 1,371 yards, and nine touchdowns. Though there are many great receivers in the league, it’s hard to defend leaving off St. Brown.
WR Brandon Aiyuk - 49ers
The Niners receiver has 72 receptions for 1,317 yards and seven touchdowns heading into Week 18. His only “disadvantage” is that he also plays amongst many other star players, including Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle, all of whom were selected to the Pro Bowl. With the most Pro Bowl selections of any other NFL team, it’s understandable that at least one player got left out. Still, in another world, Aiyuk is on that list.
S Geno Stone - Ravens
With seven interceptions this season, Stone is second in the league behind Cowboys’ DaRon Bland (8). In addition, he’s named as PFF’s sixth-best safety with 68 total tackles and nine pass deflections. It makes sense for Bland to be chosen over him, but Steelers’ Minkah Fitzpatrick, though one of the best in the league, trails him in numbers and has appeared in much fewer games.
