Popovich yells at Spurs fans for booing Kawhi Leonard

The Spurs fans have not forgiven Leonard and booed him heavily when the Clippers came to San Antonio, but Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not agree.

After leading the San Antonio Spurs to a championship title in 2014, Kawhi Leonard sat out the majority of the 2017-18 season in demand of a trade. He eventually got his wish and went to the Toronto Raptors, leading them to a title as well. Now, he’s playing on the Los Angeles Clippers team, and on Wednesday, he faced his former team.

The Spurs fans clearly did not forgive Leonard as they booed him loudly from the stands. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, however, did not take that well. In the second quarter, he took the arena microphone and told the crowd to stop booing Leonard.

“Excuse me for a second. Please stop all the booing and let these guys play. It’s got no class. It’s not who we are. Knock off the booing,” he said. His request was in vain as the booing did not let up and resumed immediately after he put down the mic. The Clippers ended up winning 109-102.
