Should Doncic be in the MVP conversation more? Jason Kidd thinks so

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd pushes for Luka Doncic to be in the running for MVP after another stellar performances with 27 points over the Spurs.

Last night, the Dallas Mavericks extended their winning streak to six games with a 116-93 beating of the San Antonio Spurs. As usual, a major contributor to that win was Mavs star Luka Doncic. He put up 27 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists while shooting 55% overall.

That’s just one example of what Doncic has been doing all season. Right now, Doncic is leading the league in points per game with 34.2, is third in assists per game with 9.5, and second in three-pointers made with 181. For this reason, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd said that Doncic should be discussed much more in the MVP conversation.

“He is playing at a high level,” said Kidd. “He should be mentioned more in the MVP conversation from what he’s done here this month.”

As it stands, Denver Nuggets’ 2x MVP winner Nikola Jokic leads the MVP race and Doncic is in fourth, up two spots from last week’s rankings. If he wants to move up even further, it’s going to be up to the rest of his teammates to keep the Mav’s form up to par and continue to play like they’re playing now.
