VIDEO: David Tepper confronts restaurant with “Let the coach and GM pick this year” sign

Thursday was Round 1 of this year’s NFL Draft and some Carolina Panthers fans let their displeasure with the way things have been going be known. At a restaurant called Dilworth Neighborhood Grille in Charlotte, a sign outside read, “Please let the coach and GM pick this year”. That’s just one sign (ha) that the fans are not happy about Panthers owner David Tepper’s involvement in the team’s daily duties and roster decisions.

Before the draft began, the Panthers owner himself decided to show up at that restaurant, go inside, and confront them about the sign. The manager of the restaurant said they were surprised by the visit but that Tepper was not upset and acted pleasant. However, the surveillance footage shows Tepper removing the restaurant host’s cap.

On Thursday night, the Panthers pulled a surprise move when they traded with the Buffalo Bills in the first round to choose South Carolina’s wide receiver Xavier Legette 32nd overall. They’ll be back on the clock on Friday for the second and third rounds of the draft, where they have the 39th and 65th overall picks.
