VIDEO: Houston man goes viral for Christmas lights rap display
A Houston man, known now as H-Town Frankie has created a creative and intricate Christmas lights/music show but not just with Christmas carols.
In Houston, Texas, a local man has gained international attention for his Christmas lights display. Frankie To-Ong, better known now as H-Town Frankie, posts videos of his light shows to social media (Instagram: @htown_frankie) and the most recent video has received around 40 million views. His light shows are synchronized to music, but not just Christmas music like you might expect. The latest show is synched with 90′s hip-hop and rap songs.
Frankie is an IT worker and begins setting up his displays in October. Though after going viral, he’s chosen to keep his home location private and the light shows only come on occasionally. Still, the neighbors love it when they do and stop by to watch if they’re lucky enough to catch it. He says on his Instagram that he posts the videos to showcase his creativity for potential customers.
“I really have a passion for making people smile with music,” said Frankie. “Some of my motivation was, can I do something that is good enough, that a superstar will see it and like it.”
He succeeded in that. He said his videos have gotten likes from Drake, Travis Scott, Paul Wall, Bun B, and Slim Thug.
“It’s the coolest thing. How else in the world would I be able to get in the room with them, or in a conversation with them, just to let them know I’m a fan.”
