The running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain regularly sees severe injuries and this man had just turned his camera on to film himself when he was maimed.

The running of the bulls is Spain’s annual event in which bulls are released on the streets as people try to outrun them. The barbaric event goes on for nine days each July and ends each day with several injuries and the killing of the animals, and sometimes even human casualties.

The runners know what they are getting themselves into when they run with the bulls in Pamplona, as there are several daily injuries year after year and it is a very dangerous event. This runner was trying to film a selfie and just in the moment he started to record, a bull charged him and hit him. The camera falls to the floor and screams can be heard around him, including someone saying “f***ing hell”. The end of the video shows that the man recording was able to get back up, seemingly not seriously injured.

This morning (Monday) was the fourth day of the event and seven people were taken to the hospital, including a 60-year-old man who suffered from head trauma. Four runners were gored by bull horns last year and sixteen people have died since 1910 with the most recent death happening in 2009 when 27-year-old Daniel Jimeno from Madrid was gored in the neck.
