At least three homes were damaged due to a small plane crashing into a trailer park in Clearwater, Florida on Thursday night, causing several to go up in flames. Officials have confirmed that there have been fatalities, including the pilot of the plane, but the exact number is not yet clear.
“I can confirm that we have several fatalities, both from the aircraft and within the mobile home,” said Clearwater Fire Chief Scott Elhers.
The pilot had reported engine failure just before the crash and the crash itself was reported to police shortly after, at around 7 p.m. After reporting the engine failure, the airplane went off the radar about three miles north of the runway, where the trailer park is located.
