Video shows moment Singapore cargo ship lost power

The cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore seemed to lose power before it lost control and caused the bridge to collapse.

This video shows the moments just before the Singapore-flagged ship, Dali, crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. It seems to lose power and control, regain control for a moment, and then lose power a second time, unable to get control back in time to avoid collision with the bridge.

The incident occurred this morning at around 1:30 a.m. local time. Two people have been rescued with at least seven others still missing. All of the crew members on the ship, however, were accounted for quickly and with no injuries.

It’s now been reported by ABC that a report by an unclassified Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said the Dali “lost propulsion” as it left the port. The report said that the crew warned Maryland officials of a potential crash at that time.

“The vessel notified MD Department of Transportation (MDOT) that they had lost control of the vessel and a collision with the bridge was possible,” ABC quoted the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency as saying. “The vessel struck the bridge causing a complete collapse.”
