Viral video of Lufthansa plane bouncing off LAX runway confirmed to be training flight

A Lufthansa flight coming from Frankfurt struggled to land at the Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday. The Boeing 747-8 plane was caught on camera by Airline Videos Live bouncing on the LAX runway with smoke beneath the wheels, attempting to land a second time, taking off again, circling the airport, and then finally landing safely.

There were 326 passengers and 19 crew members on board the flight which has now been confirmed by the airline to have been a “training flight”. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

In a statement, they wrote, “Following an assessment by the cockpit crew, a consultation with the technical department on site and in Frankfurt and an initial visual inspection, the aircraft (registration D-ABYP) flew back to Frankfurt.”
