Watch: Chris Paul says “personal” feud between he and ref is about his son

Warriors guard Chris Paul was ejected from the game against the Suns and he says he and the ref have “personal” beef after an incident involving Paul’s son.

Golden State Warriors guard Chris Paul was ejected from the game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday after getting a pair of technical fouls at the end of the second quarter. He said after the game that he and the referee, Scott Foster, have something “personal”.

“We had a situation some years ago and it’s personal,” said Paul. “The league knows. Everybody knows. There’s been a meeting and all that. It’s just a situation with my son.”

One reporter tried to ask for more details, but Paul just continued to say that it was a personal issue that “everybody” knows about, giving no further details. But it’s clear that there is something going on there, as Paul’s former teams lost 13 games in a row in which Foster was the main official and has a 3-17 playoff record in games that Foster officiated. The Suns ended up winning the game, 123-115.

“I’ve got to do a better job at staying there for my teammates, but it is what it is,” said Paul. “I’ll probably see him in a Game 7 sometime soon. That’s how it always works out with him.”
