WATCH: Mansion collapses into the river during Alaskan flood

A break in Mendenhall Glacier’s “Suicide Basin” caused major flooding near Juneau, Alaska, resulting in this mansion to completely collapse into a river.

A mansion was one of several homes that fell into the water after a flood devastated the surroundings of Juneau, Alaska on Saturday. The floods were caused by a break in what they call Suicide Basin, a side basin on the Mendenhall Glacier, which released water into the glacier-dammed lake.

The mansion shown in the video was swept away after its collapse, which occurred after about six hours of erosion. The final collapse took just seconds before the whole mansion was destroyed and floating away in the river. The video was taken by witness Sam Nolan, who expressed regret at not being able to help the situation.
