WATCH: The “crazy plane lady” apologizes
Tiffany Gomas, a Dallas woman who went viral for her loud meltdown on an airplane in July has re-opened her social media accounts and publicly apologized.
After months of wondering, “who is this crazy plane lady?”, the woman behind the viral “this mother****er is not real” video was finally identified as Tiffany Gomas earlier this week. Gomas is a Texas native who owns her own marketing firm and lives in a $1.6 million luxury home in Lakewood, Texas.
Although some information has come out about who she is, unfortunately, nothing at all has been revealed about the meltdown itself - who was the “not real” person, what caused the meltdown, why did she suddenly feel the plane was unsafe? All those questions have still yet to be addressed, even after Gomas herself decided to come out of the shadows and address the video.
What did Tiffany Gomas say about her plane meltdown?
Just days after police bodycam footage was released showing Gomas saying that the plane was going to “blow up” and begging the cops to not allow it to leave, she has released a video on her Instagram, apologizing for her overreaction and profanity. The apology was part of a relaunch of her social media platforms, which had been wiped clean following the incident. Now, she seems to be trying to take back control of the narrative. Here’s what she had to say.
”First and foremost, I want to take full accountability for my actions. They were completely unacceptable,” said Gomas. “Distressed or not, I should have been in control of my emotions, and that was not the case. My use of profanity was completely unnecessary and I want to apologize to everyone who was on that plane, especially those who had children aboard.”
She went on to say that she would now like to take advantage of this spotlight and use it to promote “positive mental health”. She even put a call to action with a link to her website and the message “stay tuned!”
Though that is a wonderful thing to promote, there are still so many unanswered questions in this story. Who was the man who supposedly stole her Airpods and with whom she had an argument on the plane? Why did she think it would not make it to Orlando? (It did make it to Orlando safely, in case there was any doubt). These are things only Gomas can answer and hopefully she will soon.
