Victor Wembanyama, as expected, was drafted first overall in the NBA Draft on Thursday by the San Antonio Spurs. Though everyone knew it, including Wemby himself, he still couldn’t help but get choked up when the reality of it hit.

As he sat with his family for the post-pick interview, Wemby was tearing up and expressing his gratitude to have his dream realized.

“It’s just, accomplishing something I’ve been dreaming of my whole life,” said Wemby. “Hearing that sentence from Adam Silver, I’ve dreamed of it so much now...I’ve got to cry.”
