Wembanyama barely fits on subway, throws hilariously bad first pitch at Yankees game
Victor Wembanyama’s height helps him on the basketball court as the NBA’s top pick in the upcoming draft, but baseball is clearly not his thing.
NBA’s top draft prospect for the upcoming draft this week is 7′2″ French phenomenom Victor Wembanyama. Being that tall has its perks, especially when you’re a basketball player. But as Wembanyama prepared to throw out the first pitch for the New York Yankees on Tuesday, his height didn’t help him much.
Wembanyama took the public transport option to head to the stadium, telling reporters it was his first time to ever take the subway. It was a struggle for him to even fit in there, as he had to duck to get in and couldn’t even stand up straight. Videos went viral immediately of Wembanyama getting the full Big Apple experience, ducking down in the subway, and towering over every other person that had the fortune of riding it that day.
Wembanyama throws terrible first pitch
Wembanyama is a basketball sensation and overwhelmingly expected to be selected first overall by the San Antonio Spurs in Thursday’s NBA Draft. That athleticism apparently does not transcend into baseball though.
As he threw out the first pitch at Yankees stadium, it went way outside and wide of the batter’s box. Check it out.
Still, it seemed Wembanyama had a good time. He was wearing a pin-striped Yankees jersey, visited with some of the players, and even participated in batting practice. Plus, how can anyone expect him to throw a tiny baseball with those massive hands??
