WOMEN'S WORLD CUP 2023

Women’s World Cup players to watch: Lindsey Horan

The Women’s World Cup is just a few weeks away and one of the players you won’t want to miss is USWMNT midfielder Lindsey Horan.

The Women’s World Cup is just around the corner with the first games beginning on Thursday, July 20. The US women’s national team will be looking for their third straight World Cup trophy after having won in 2019 and 2015.

Of the many talented players on the USWNT, one you will definitely want to keep your eye on is their dynamic and diverse midfielder, Lindsey Horan.

The 29-year-old Lyon player has scored at least one goal every year for the USWNT since 2015 - the longest streak by any current player. She is just the fourth player to win both the U.S. Soccer Female and Young Female Player of the Year awards, and she made history by becoming the first American female player to sign a professional contract straight out of high school when she signed with PSG in 2012.

“Lindsey Horan is our version of a total footballer,” said former USWNT player Heather O’Reilly. “She is probably the most well-rounded player that the U.S. has put out in a long time in terms of her box-to-box ability, her ability to score goals, to set up goals. We’ve even seen her wear the captain’s band a few times, so she is a player that is a central cog to the U.S. team.”

The USWNT will play their first game against Vietnam in Group E on Friday, July 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
