GRAND PRIX

Yet another broken trophy for Verstappen

Just a week after Red Bull’s Max Verstappen’s Hungarian Grand Prix trophy was broken, he had to witness another trophy break after the Belgian Grand Prix.

Red Bull racer Max Verstappen has had some pretty bad luck with his trophies lately. Last week, at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lando Norris smashed a champagne bottle on the top step of the podium, sending Verstappen’s trophy toppling. This week, at the Belgium Grand Prix, it happened again. This time, it was after the team took the winner’s photo and got a little too excited, running forward and knocking the trophy over and into pieces.

Verstappen couldn’t help but laugh a little at the incident, saying, “It’s broken again. The trophy’s broken again!” The trophies for the Hungarian Grand Prix are handmade and cost around $45,000 and six months to create. Fortunately, they have a lifetime warranty and the team will be given a new one.
