KYLIAN MBAPPÉ

Why isn’t Kylian Mbappé playing for Paris Saint-Germain against Nice in Ligue 1 today?

The France captain isn’t in the PSG squad for Wednesday’s game ahead of a potential move to Real Madrid.

Update:
El adiós de Mbappé pone fin a una era en el PSG

Kylian Mbappé's time at Paris Saint-Germain looks to be coming to a low-key end after he was omitted from the squad to take on Nice in Ligue 1 on Wednesday. With PSG having already secured the title, the match is relatively meaningless, although the Real Madrid target’s absence has raised eyebrows with the Coupe de France (French Cup) final against Lyon only 10 days away.

Mbappé suffers injury 10 days before Lyon final

Head coach Luis Enrique has used Mbappé sparingly on occasion this season, arguing his team will have to get used to playing without their star attacker, who will leave the club this summer and is all but certain to move to the LaLiga giants.

However, the decision has been taken out of the Spaniards for Wednesday’s game in Nice, which Mbappé will miss through injury. The forward missed training on Tuesday because of a hamstring problem and has been ruled out of the game as a result.

With PSG having nothing to play for, his absence appears to be a precaution more than anything, although it isn’t exactly ideal preparation for his final game, the cup final against Lyon in 10 days’ time, which will follow the last league fixture away to Metz on Sunday.

Will Mbappé get a happy ending at PSG?

Mbappé has already suffered plenty of recent disappointment.

PSG were knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage by Borussia Dortmund despite having been favourites to win, while the club failed to arrange any kind of special send-off for him in his last home game for them last Sunday, which came just two days after he released a video confirming his departure.

A fourth Couple de France on 25 May would be something of a happy ending, although it’s not the trophy Mbappé really wanted to get his hands on before leaving at the end of the season.
