Cristiano left ruing missed penalty as Portugal held again

So it will all be decided at 18:00 on Wednesday - Iceland take on Austria, Portugal with it all to do against Hungary.

Here's how it looks in Group F after today's action:

90+3 | That's full-time! No goals - even very late ones, the Euro 2016 Minute 87 rule didn't apply tonight unfortunately. Portugual will be disappointed after dominating most of the game and a host of chances - including a missed penalty. They have two points from two games, but cannot afford to lose their third and final group stage match against Hungary (who have already qualified) on Wednesday if they want to make sure they go through.

85 | Substitution: Ilsanker comes off, replaced by Wimmer. Maybe he'll get the winner?

84 | Cristiano has the ball in the net with a glanced header from a free-kick but Austria's defence have obviously studied the Unai Emery 'Handy companion to defending from set-pieces' guidebook - all of them take two steps forward just before the kick is taken, leaving Cristiano a good yard offside.

Min 83 | Substitution: André Gomes, who's been superb by the way, makes way for Eder.

A fairly confident run-up and Almer, diving the wrong way, was well beaten but Cristiano's strike bounces back off the bottom of the left post. Still 0-0.

Min 76 | We're into the last quarter hour and still no goals in Paris. Will the 'Euro 2016 late goal phenomenon' save the day?

Min 73 | Austria win a free-kick - central, about five yards outside the box. Four players standing over it. In the end it's Fuchs with a dink over the wall but easily cleared by Portugal.

Min 70 | Substitution: João Mário comes bounding on to inject some fresh energy in Portugal. Quaresma, who's been flagging a little in the past few minutes, goes off.

Min 66 | Quaresma tries a shot-come-cross but it' safely gathered by Almer. It's all Portugal in this second half. Austria are defending as though their lives depended on it - with a quasi double back 4.

Min 64 | Cristiano takes the free-kick, which sizzles over Almer's upright.

Min 64 | Before it's taken Austria move the bench - Alaba comes on for Schöpf.

Min 63 | Portugal free-kick in 'Cristiano territory' - just outside the box.

Min 60 | Portugal with another free-kick, in an identical position by the corner flag. Fuchs goes into the ref's notebook for a foul on Quaresma.

Min 56 | Almer again! reflex save to block Cristiano's downward header from the corner. It was straight at him to be fair but it always hard to gauge a bouncing ball. Close!!

Min 55 | Blimey! Almer did superbly to dive low to his left and palm around a real stinging  Cristiano swerving shot.

Min 54 | Portugal win a free-kick just yards from the corner flag but it's overhit by Guerreiro.

Min 50 | Carvalho with an Alberto Moreno-patented 'head it into the air and lets see where it lands' but Portugal are still pressing hard, and win a corner.

Min 48 | Free-kick to Portugal about 30 yards out, Cristiano strikes straight at the wall.

Min 45 | Uyy!! and just 30 seconds into the second half Ilsanker has Rui Patrício diving low to his left to block a fierce effort from 25 yards out.

Min 45 | Austria get us back underway in Paris!! No goals, yet...

Peeep! That's half time. "Quite entertaining, but has it actually been any good?" asks my colleague. Roared on by a bumper Portugese support, Fernando Santos' side have offered much the more significant attacking endeavour, with particularly clear chances for Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani going a-begging. They should be ahead, but they haven't taken their opportunities. Meanwhile, Alaba and Harnik went close for the Austrians. Ronnie didn't look a happy bunny as he made his way to the dressing room.

Min 40 | Alaba stands over it and fizzes it towards the far post - where Vieirinha heads clear under pressure from Harnik! Austria's most threatening moment by a distance since that early header for Harnik.

Min 39 | Ooh, here's a dangerous free-kick to Austria and a yellow card for Pepe. Arnautovic combines with Alaba on the right, and the Bayern Munich man ends up winning the foul off the Real defender - who did appear to get a bit of the ball - on the right-hand edge of the box.

Min 37 | Another opening for Cristiano! Quaresma nods a weak clearance into the forward's path in the box, but he just couldn't quite get over his effort and it's a relatively comfortable stop for Almer.

Min 35 | Nani crosses for Ronaldo, and his header is saved by Almer! But the flag was up anyway for offside against CR7! Marginal...

Min 33 | Portugal almost get in a right old mess at the back, but Carvalho is there to nick it away from a white shirt. The Portuguese then come again and win a free-kick in the right-hand channel, but Quaresma's attempt to take it short doesn't work out, to say the least.

Min 30 | Quaresma talks himself into the book after giving Nicola Rizzoli a veritable piece of his mind following a tussle with Sebastian Prodl. Naughty boy.

Min 28 | Nani off the post! Quaresma wins the corner off Stefan Ilsanker and plays it short to Andre Gomes, whose left-footed cross is right on the ex-Man Utd man's bonce - but he heads it against the woodwork! Moutinho's follow-up is then over the bar.

Min 26 | 61% possession and eight attempts on goal for Portugal, just the one for Austria. Fernando Santos' men are carrying much the greater attacking threat. 

Min 24 | Florian Klein concedes the corner, Quaresma delivers...and it's a looooong. Almer then pumps the ball straight out. The Austria custodian doesn't seem altogether rock-solid with his feet.

Min 21 | Oooooh! Chance of the match! Raphael Guerreiro plays a one-two with Nani on the left edge of the penalty area, cuts back to Cristiano Ronaldo... and the Real Madrid ace side-foots wide of the near post! What a lovely goal that would have been! Portugal on top.

Min 17 | Nani and Marko Arnautovic are involved in a spot of handbags at the Portugal end, before Almer and Martin Hinteregger get in all sorts of trouble and concede a silly corner as the Austria keeper fires his clearance straight off the defender and back out. Quaresma whips it in, Carvalho leaps, but it's not troubling the Austrians' goal.

Min 12 | Double chance for Portugal! First, Nani bundles his way through on the corner of the box but sees his low shot blocked by Almer, before Vieirinha tries his luck from range and the Austria keeper beats it out for a corner! From the corner, he saves again.

Min 8 | From where I'm sitting - hundreds of miles away in an office in Madrid - the atmopshere at the Parc des Princes sounds electric.

Min 5 | The match has started at a furious tempo. Joao Moutinho fires it in towards the goalmouth, where it drops to Nani - but his header loops over.

Min 3 | Austria go up the other end and carve out an eminently presentable opportunity! Marcel Sabitzer crosses from the right and Martin Harnik heads off target! He seemed to mis-time his jump.

Peeep! We're underway at the Parc des Princes, and Portugal immediately win a corner, which Robert Almer has to tip over for another. Ricardo Quaresma's delivery then falls to Ricardo Carvalho, who sclaffs it tamely over.

5 mins to kick-off | The teams are out and it's anthem time! There's a big Portuguese community in Paris, so as expected theirs is belted out around the Parc des Princes. Cristiano Ronaldo raises his fist aloft as the final note is sung. Can he get on the scoresheet for a fourth Euros? Will Austria's mentality be big enough for him? We'll find out.

Preview of Portugal - Austria in Euro 2016

This second round of games in Group F for these two teams is key. With a disappointing draw for Portugal against minnows Iceland giving them just a point, and the 0-2 defeat for Austria at the hands of Hungary, both will be looking to get back on the qualification track tonight. A loss would likely spell the end of their involvement post the group stage.

Portugal

The Portuguese collective will be coming into this second game champing at the bit. And this is for a few reasons. Firstly, they need to turn the page after their draw against Iceland. Not only was it a poor result that puts their topping the group in doubt, which has drawn criticism at home but also the reaction after the game of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines for the wrong reasons. New headlines need to be written and the Madrid star will want to be part of them.

Manager Fernando Santos is likely to start with Quaresma - who had an impact when he came on late in the first game - and Nani is likely to keep his place after scoring the team's only goal. In defence the stalwarts of Pepe and Carvalho will certainly be looking to lead from the back. 

Austria 

The Austrians will also be hungry for this game. As some people's dark horses to surprise at this tournament, they did not expect to lose their first game, especially so convincingly. So, they come into the Portugal match desperate to reignite their chances of qualifying and coach Marcel Koller could well shake things up a little. Key players will remain with Bayern star David Alaba continuing as the man they want dictating play and Fuchs, along with Arnautovic, providing threats on the wing.
