André Silva: the Portugal heir to Cristiano Ronaldo's throne
The Porto striker is hoping to score the winning goal against Juventus to reach the Champions League quarter finals and had no problem with the Madrid star's praiseAtlético vs Real Madrid
The heir to the Cristiano throne
Cristiano Ronaldo is in no doubt that the Portuguese national team will continue with their success after he decides to hang up his boots: "When I retire, Portugal is still in good hands. We have a great forward in André Silva".
The Porto striker, Silva, had no problem with the statement from his captain: "Well, if he says it...", he reflected confidently, with thoughts still fresh of the incredible victory last summer. "We are European Champions, but us younger members, can repeat the great feat of Euro 2016".
Real Madrid link to Silva
Further links between Cristiano and André lie in the rumours doing the rounds on potential interest from Real Madrid in the services of the attacker. But that wasn't top of the player's agenda on a huge night for his current club as they aim to make the Champions League quarter finals, but turning around a 0-2 home defeat to Italian giants Juventus will be some effort:
"We still have a chance to make the quarters," he said optimisitically. "If we think that we are beaten beforehand, that will happen. "I hope to score the winning goal in Turin".
Silva also spoke about his maturity changing his footballing objectives:
"My perspective has changed over the months. Now is the time to win trophies".
