The sequel to Mario Kart is revealed as Mario Kart World, allowing you to race in an open world
More information about Mario Kart World will be revealed in an upcoming Direct.

The Nintendo Switch 2 focused Nintendo Direct began with something that was not the console, but the sequel to one of the best-selling titles of the generation. Nintendo bet on presenting the sequel to Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart World
What is Mario Kart World?
The ninth installment in the Mario Kart franchise expands with an open world that players can explore and move around on their way to the next race. Much like the Forza Horizon series, where you can explore the entire map from your car.
Another new feature that will be available is the arrival of outfits that will change the look of our runners. From cowboys to fitter runners. For now, there are no further details on this and what it will do to our characters.

On the other hand, the 4-race cups will remain, only the way you interact with them and reach them will change. Other game modes will also be available.
A Mario Kart World Direct will be broadcast on April 17th. The game will be available the same day the Nintendo Switch 2 is released.
