Sergi Busquets spoke about his future in an interview with ESPN and also about the rumours which have been circulating about interest from Manchester City following confirmation that Pep Guardiola will be taking over the reins in the summer.

Chance of leaving Barcelona: “I've always said that only two people could change my mind about being here - one is my wife who is from here and also a Barça fan so I doubt very much that she will try to prise me away, so I don't see any problems there. On a sporting level, the only other person would be Guardiola; I owe him a lot and the chance to work with him again would be a great honour. But he knows that this is my club, and it's his club too. He knows that the best thing for the club and for me, is for me to stay where I am; I don't think either of them would even dare ask me”.

397 games at 27 years of age: “I don't look at it in terms of how many appearances I have made. I prefer to concentrate on doing my job season by season, being fit and available to play, doing well so that I keep my place and continue to get playing time, looking after myself and trying to ensure that I don't get injured; after that, hopefully, when my playing days with Barcelona are over I can say: ‘Crickey! I've entered the history books as a good player and one of the players to have made the most appearances for Barcelona’”.

Criticism and the bar set high at Barcelona: “We're in a winning streak and eventually people start to expect a high level from you all of the time - the media, the public...  they expect you to be winning trophies so when you enter a period when your form takes a dip - or even if you draw a couple of games, you receive a lot of criticism”.
