James' father: "At big football clubs there is no forgiveness"
Wilson James Rodríguez defended his son on Caracol Radio: "This hurts a great deal. James is very professional. These dips are normal and we just need to support him".
The Bernabéu has turned against James Rodriguez. The Colombian is clearly out of form and once again played poorly in yesterday's Madrid derby. Zidane replaced him in the 56th minute and left the pitch to the sound of whistles and jeers from the Bernabeu faithful
Later last night, his father Wilson James Rodríguez, was interviewed on Caracol Radio and defended his son. "This is hard to take as every father wants the best for his son. This is football though and it's not just James who is playing poorly. Dips in form are routine, stakes are very high in the big sides and there is very little room for forgiveness. James is a very professional individual but this is the price of fame. All I can do is be there for him in these difficult times. I'm relaxed about the situation as it will pass", he added.
Wilson who is a football coach with Envigado FC youth team (the first club that James played with) was unable to speak with his son after the home defeat. He last spoke with the midfielder in the week proceeding the game and revealed his son's state of mind "Football is very much about the present and he's determined to keep working hard. Do you recall when James first joined Madrid?.He was under pressure to score goals. This is totally normal but it's important to lift oneself up and move on".
He concluded with a message for Real Madrid: "The league is out of the question so it's important to give plenty of focus on the Champions League campaign and fight for the 11th title".
