Update:
Bakambu safe but caught in Brussels lockdown

Villarreal forward Cédric Bakambu has been left stranded in Brussels following this morning's terrorist attacks. The player was at Brussels-Zaventem airport when the attacks took place, as he wa expected to board a connecting flight to DR Congo where he was due to join up with the national team who have two games against Angola lined up during the international break. Fortunately, Bakambu was unhurt in the attacks and his only inconvenience is that he is stranded in Belgium where borders have been closed.

Villarreal have been in touch with the player to confirm that he is ok and are currently trying to find a way for Bakambu to leave the country. The club hopes to be able to resolve the situation at some point later today.

Bakambu wasn't the only DR Congo international at the airport this morning, Norwich City's Dieumerci Mbokani was due to board the same plane boun for Kinshasa. Portuguese youth internationals Francisco Pacheco and Alexandre Pimenta were also at the airport but all escaped the attack unhurt.
