Petition aims to strip Barcelona of Liga and Champions League

Another petition on Change.org now calls for a Champions League and a Liga title to be revoked from FC Barcelona because of refereeing decisions.

Change.org petition demands Barça titles be stricken from the record.

In what is clearly a response to a petition calling for Real Madrid's first five European Cups to be rescinded and stricken from the record books (one that has amassed nearly 60,000 signatures), another petition has appeared on the Change.org platform asking for Barcelona to have titles revoked.

Specifically, the petition calls on UEFA to revoke the 2008-2009 Champions League title won by the azulgranas, along with the 2015/16 La Liga trophy.

The petition reads: "The Champions League should be taken away from this farcical club along with the Liga that was handed to Barcelona by referees repeatedly allowing them to play against 10 men and win with penalties awarded by Stark, Mateu Lahoz..."

There is an image attached to the petition that has the appearance the Barcelona website: "Official Statement: Barça would like to thank all the referees of the 'LPF' for all the penalties, sending-offs and offside goals given. Without you this Liga victory wouldn't have been possible. Visca Barça".

With the petition calling on UEFA to revoke Real Madrid's first five European Cups on the premise that the competition has changed, this latest move has clearly come as a riposte and the age old Barça-Real rivalry has found a new platform to simply have a go at each other.

Should Liverpool fans demand they be given the penalties denied by referee Jonas Eriksson in the Europa League final? Should Frank Lampard demand the 2010 South African World Cup round of 16 match be replayed?

It will be interesting to see if Change.org will allow these tit-for-tat petitions - which have very little real chance of even being acknowledged by the appropiate authorities - to continue.
