There are only certain formalities left remaining in making Neymar’s contract renewal at Camp Nou official, but according to Barcelona, confirmation of the Brazilian’s five-year deal has been put back.

However the delay is for no other reason than Neymar’s participation in the Olympic Games, meaning he has to meet up with the rest of the Brazil squad in Rio on 18 July.

"Everything is already signed..."

“We don’t want the player to have to make a return journey in such little time when he should be with his national side by next Monday. We’re just putting the contract formalities back a little bit given that everything is already signed,” affirmed Barça’s spokesperson, Josep Vives on Monday.
