Former Brazil midfielder Zico has criticized Neymar and suggested he is not fit to be captain of the Brazil national side.

The captain of our team doesn’t have the minimum requirement to be captain,” Zico said at an event near the Olympic Park in Rio. “He should concentrate just on playing football. After the Iraq game they complained about the opposition wasting time. Is that what they should be concerned about? They should be worried about playing football, caramba!”

The Brazil team has come in for heavy criticism after drawing both of their group games 0-0, against Iraq and South Africa, and are under pressure to win the Olympic title on their own soil.

“I think Brazil will beat Denmark and they can go on to win gold,” Zico affirmed. “There isn’t a devastating side in the competition.”

However, Zico attacked what he perceives as a lack of organization in Brazilian football. “Nobody can work magic in two weeks and the Brazil team is always put together at the last minute. There is no team, no positioning. And we don’t have one of those animals of old who can decide a game.”
