Real Betis' Director of Sport Miguel Torrecilla clarified Rubén Castro's position with the Verdiblancos this season: "Rubén is not going anywhere under any circusmstances. He's key for us and he is completely integrated into Gustavo Poyet's style of football".

The Uruguayan coach caused alarm and uncertainty about the striker's future this week with declarations to the press ahead of Friday's meeting with Deportivo, telling reporters, "We are praying that no one comes up with the millions of euros which a player like him is worth because the transfer market remains open".
