FC Barcelona released a medical note on Leo Messi on Monday evening after the player’s return from international duty with Argentina stating that he is still not fully recovered from an muscle problem. “The tests carried out today confirm that the problems in Leo Messi’s left adductor muscle persist. It is advised that he lessens his workrate in training over the next few days and his availability [against Alavés] will be determined by the evolution of his muscle issues.”

Argentina

Messi travelled to Argentina to join up with the Albiceleste for World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Venezuela, playing the full 90 minutes against the former and scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory before being advised by Argentina’s doctors to sit out the match with Venezuela and return to Barcelona. The Camp Nou medical staff had initially advised Messi against travelling and now fear that he has returned to the club in the same state that he left. Messi had announced his international retirement in the wake of Argentina's Copa América Centenario penalty shoot-out loss to Chile but changed his mind after talks with incoming coach Edgardo Bauza

"It's all good"

However, Messi sent a positive message via social media: “It’s all good. I have to take it easy and continue my recovery with physiotherapy but it’s nothing to worry about. Thanks for all the support.”
