ATLÉTICO MADRID | JUANFRAN

“Atlético have raised the bar so high that there’s no patience”

The Atlético Madrid defender Juanfran spoke at a press conference ahead of Atlético’s upcoming game against Celta Vigo at Balaídos (Saturday, 13:00 CET).

Did you speak to Lopetegui?
No, I didn't speak to him. He didn't need to call me. I'm always going to be available for him and the national team. To go or not go with them, or for whatever's needed. I'm happy with the way La Roja's two games went, particularly the last one.

Are there any nerves over the way you’ve started in LaLiga?
The dressing room is better than ever. They were two results that didn't turn out the way we wanted and now we just want to win. I’m convinced that, after winning in Vigo, things will look different. We’re in good shape and getting back players from the international sides. We’re going to have a great game and win on Saturday.

What are you expecting from Celta?
Berizzo knows El Cholo well and always makes life difficult for us. Last year they knocked us out of the cup. Up front they make great use of Aspas’s pace. They also need a win. I hope we see the best of Atleti. Travelling doesn’t bother me; I don’t care: there are no excuses; we have to win on Saturday and I’m sure we’re going to have a great game.

What do you think about the 13:00 kick-off?
We’re not a team or a club that makes excuses. We’re not bothered by things around us.

Do you think that Simeone will still be there next year?
You have to talk about the present, and the present means that he is the Atleti coach. I’m sure he still will be here next year. Like everyone else, he’s excited about the stadium; this is the last season at the Calderón and something special is in store for all Atlético fans.
