Sergio Ramos sets new league goal-scoring feat

With his first-half stoppage-time goal against Osasuna on Saturday, Sergio Ramos reached a new milestone. Since he netted his first top flight goal - a free-kick for Sevilla against Real Sociedad at the Sánchez Pizjuán in September 2004, the Madrid captain has now equalled the record for defenders to have scored in successive seasons in Spain's top division.

Ramos opened his account with Real Madrid, scoring a header against Olympiacos in the final Champions League group game in his first season at the Bernabéu; and has scored in every single season since. He has already equalled the club record (12), which was held by the legendary Juanito, now he has equalled the league record, which he now shares with former Athletic Club left-back Aitor Larrazabal who scored in 13 straight campaigns for the Bilbaínos.

When he found the net in last month's UEFA Super Cup, Ramos became the defender to have scored the most times in major European finals - sidling past luminaries sich as Tommy Gemmell, Phil Neal, Gille Van Binst and Coke.
