Nothing could tempt QWenger to leave Arsenal
Arsène Wenger disclosed that he has turned down at least three approaches from Paris Saint-Germain over the years out of fidelity to Arsenal.
This month, the 66-year-old celebrates 20 years as Arsenal manager, although if PSG had their way he could well have been in the home dugout at the Parc des Princes tomorrow night when the teams begin their Champions League campaigns.
Wenger is believed to have been approached at least three times by PSG in recent seasons but told reporters today that he was never tempted to leave. “I love where I am. I know PSG’s owners well but I feel always I remained loyal to Arsenal because it is a club that has the qualities I love”.
Back in 2008, well before Qatar Sports Investments took over at PSG, the appointment of Wenger's close friend Charles Villeneuve as president led to speculation that the Arsenal manager would follow him to the French capital. Curiously, Tuesday's game will be the first time both clubs have met in the Champions League, although the Gunners certainly have memories of Paris, where they lost the 2006 final to Barcelona.
“I like coming to Paris; it's a city I love, it's my country, and it's a country I love”, Wenger added. '”Also, PSG is a good test for us because in France, they’re the team that’s always above everybody else”.
