Personal vs collective achievement

The ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo in his column for British media outlet The Daily Mail and suggested that the Real Madrid player was more interested in taking individual awards ahead of those with his team.

"It's all about me!! That's what is being suggested about Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

"You get the feeling he would take more satisfaction winning the Ballon d’Or than he would get winning the Champions League," said the man who had 38 caps for England between 1999 and 2010.

Did Cristiano really want his team's goal disallowed?

The now highly respected Sky Sports pundit is known for his plain talking and went further in what has been seen by many as criticism of Cristiano. This time referring to a much-talked about incident where the number seven raised his arm after a teammate scored.

Cristiano or Messi? Jamie has no doubt.

"Take last week against Athletic Bilbao. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw him appeal that the winner scored by Alvaro Morata - his team-mate - was offside. Some of his team-mates have tried to argue Ronaldo has been misinterpreted but look at the pictures.

And all this has an effect on who the man from Merseyside sees as number one in a debate that has continued for years.

"There is the difference between Messi and Ronaldo - I make no secret whose camp I am in. It is Messi every single time."

Carragher is not the first person to make this type of accusation.
