Zinedine Zidane suffered his first mini emergency as Real Madrid coach back in late February 2016 after he saw his side go down 0-1 at home to neighbours Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. All was not well and the problem was accentuated with CristianoRonaldo's post match comment: “If the rest were at my level then possibly we'd be top of the table”. The Portuguese striker later stated that he was alluding to injuries and after the game chants against Florentino were clearly audible from sectors of the stadium.
15 point lead over rivals
Fast forward to the end of November 2016 and Real Madrid are unbeaten in the Spanish league since that night back in February. In a "virtual" league table accruing points from then to now Zidane's Real Madrid would hold a 15 point lead over both Atlético and Barcelona in these 24 league matches. A positive record for a club who have just lifter one LaLiga title in the past eight campaigns.
On track for the title...
Zidane's league record since March 2016 is truly impressive with21 wins, and three draws. Both Barça and Atlético have also drawn three games in this period but both club's have been beaten on five occasions.
The Marseille born coach has now overseen 32 league games since his debut against Deportivo la Coruña in January and his Real Madrid side have managed 97 goals in these fixtures with just 26 conceded and there is now doubt that with this trajectory the French coach is right on track to lift the LaLiga title come the month of May 2017.
