Equal treatment

“I don't see any difference in the way Real Madrid and Barcelona players are treated”. Neymar told GOL when he was asked if he thought the recent allegations of tax evasion could create a division between players from both clubs. “I don't like talking about these things”, he continued, referring to fiscal matters and keeping books balanced. "I don't felt as though I have been badly treated, but some people are saying things which are not rue and that affects me a little”.

Productive year

Neymar brings 2016 to a close after having won LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and an Olympic gold medal on home soil with Brazil: “I forget about all of those things when I play - that's my job. My father knows what he is doing because he has always worked for that. There are a lot of people talking who don't know what really happened. First of all what is written in the media and there are times when you can't take any more. I'm not saying this for me, I'm saying that my father and mother have to go through all of this… I am used to pressure and people saying nasty things about me. But my family isn't. Some people say things without even thinking about what they are saying. Then on the side of it there are people, human beings who have a big heart and feelings. For my family, it's been a complicated moment”.

Ballon d'Or

During the same interview with Ricardo Rosety, Neymar confessed that he would like to win the Ballon d'Or but feels his chances are limited while Messi is on the scene: “Of course it's an objective, but I'm not going to kill myself over it. I want to be happy and I am happy at Barça. It doesn't matter if I don't win the Ballon d'Or becauseit is not the reason I play football. Unfortunately, only one person can win it and Leo is the best and we respect that. For me it's a great honour to be one of his team mates and share the same team, dressing room, football and goals with him".

Iniesta legend

The Brazilian also lauded another of his team mates - Andrés Iniesta: “He can't be compared with anyone, he's different - he has elegance and class. He is the best midfielder I have seen play football. To be a great player or to be a legend, Andrés doesn't need to win the Ballon d'Or”.
