Crisis meeting

Peter Lim will hold a meeting in the next few hours with Layhoon Chan, Jesús García Pitarch and Cesare Prandelli. The three flew out to Singapore this morning in a bid to find a solution to the current crisis which has engulfed Valencia.

Coach Prandelli said yesterday that he urgently needed to talk to the club's owner to discuss what needs to be done to change the team's downward spiral and the Italian believes that Valencia's problems are not a one-off blip, but are structural.

January window

Prandelli, as AS recently reported, considers it necessary to bring in four to five players - footballers with character and charisma. That is what he will request from Lim, as well as an oulet for one or two players who are surplus to requirements. Any trading during the transfer windows can only be done on Lim's approval, and because of the FIFA Financial Fair Play restrictions, he may even have to delve into his pocket to put extra cash into the club, on top of the 200 million euros he has already invested.

The meeting was called after Prandelli publicly criticized his players on Friday, in the wake of Monday's defeat at Real Sociedad and radical fans waiting for the squad at Valencia's training ground in Paterna. But above all, because of the team's figures - 12 points from a possible 48 and the harsh reality that they could be bringing 2016 in the relegation places.

New signings

West Ham's Simeone Zaza and Juventus midfielder Hernanes are two of the players who Valencia are looking to bring on board in January. But first Lim must give the go-ahead for any operation the coach has in mind.
