BARCELONA 5-0 LAS PALMAS

Aleix Vidal's first goal for Barcelona has bench in fits of giggles

The 2nd-half strike of the Barcelona right-back, who's largely been out-of-favour with Luis Enrique since joining, prompted a scene of amusement between the coach and Vidal's teammates.

Aleix Vidal's first goal for Barcelona has bench in fits of giggles

Barcelona right-back Aleix Vidal scored his first goal for the club in the 5-0 rout of Las Palmas on Saturday, apparently causing the Barça bench to burst into a fit of giggles.

Coach Luis Enrique, forwards Luis Suarez and Neymar, as well as midfielder Sergio Busquets -- along with several others sitting on the sidelines -- were pictured laughing amongst themselves immediately after Vidal's well-taken right-foot drive into the bottom corner on 79 minutes.

It appears the chuckles were all in good gest though, and perhaps more out of relief than anything else for the 27-year old, who hasn't enjoyed the best of spells at the club since arriving from Sevilla in 2015.

"Physically he's a sensation"

The defender has struggled to break into the side, making just 14 appearances for Los Cules last season and only six so far during the current campaign.

In October, Vidal had reportedly expressed his desire to leave Barcelona, but after winning a place in the starting line up on Saturday, which he capped with a goal (much to the obvious delight of his colleagues), things could be looking back up for the player.

"The way in which he's trained in recent months means he's ready to compete," said Luis Enrique of Vidal after the game. "He had an excellent match. Physically he's a sensation."
