Berizzo: "Orellana won't play for Celta again while I'm coach"
The Argentinean boss of the Galician side explained why he has sent the winger to Coventry. "He showed an unacceptable level of disrespect."
Fabián Orellana will not play for Celta Vigo again while Eduardo Berizzo is in charge, the club have confirmed.
Berizzo: "The decision is final"
Berizzo told a pre-match press conference ahead of the Copa del Rey clash against Real Madrid that the Chile winger has been banished from the squad with immediate effect: “I have decided to remove Orellana for a lack of respect. My decision is final, for unacceptable behaviour, and I have informed the club of my decision and they agree. While I am in charge he will no longer represent the club. Discipline is one thing, a lack of respect is another. He hasn’t apologized and there’s no point in doing so. And that’s the end of the matter.”
Miñambres: "He will be transferred"
Celta sporting director Felipe Miñambres backed his coach’s stance and said that Orellana “will be transferred and a replacement brought in.”
Meanwhile, Berizzo confirmed that Sergio Álvarez would be in goal for the match at the Bernabéu while new arrival Jozabed and Pablo Hernández, who has recovered from injury, are also in the squad.
Celta squad for Real Madrid:
