Juventus and Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuaín gave an interview with Turin daily La Stampa during which he discussed the Champions League tie against Porto, his former Real Madrid teammates, in-demand Juve striker Paulo Dybala and his new club.

Porto: “I played against them a couple of times in the Europa League with Napoli and we knocked them out. And also with Madrid, but I don’t remember the result.”

Casillas: “We talk sometimes. He played a joke on me other day but we get along well. And it’s always to score goals against great goalkeepers.”

Improvement: “Playing with the strongest players make you better. Whoever you are, you can always learn. It’s enough just to look at Gigi [Buffon]. He’s won everything. And Dani Alves. What makes you win games is the hunger.”

"I know I made the right decision to move to Juventus"

Move to Juventus: “I know that I made the right decision. I don’t feel under any pressure. At the age of 29 I have found mental tranquillity.”

Raúl: “I learned from him, of course. And also from Van Nistelrooy, Cassano and Ronaldo, although we only coincided for a few months.”

Idol: “Ronaldo, the Brazilian one, was the best at everything. He is the only player who I have watched on video and tried to imitate, but it’s very hard.”

"If you’re Messi, Maradona, or Ronaldo you don't have to lift a finger"

Hard work or talent? “If you’re Messi, Maradona, Ronaldo and maybe some I can’t think of right now, you don’t have to lift a finger. But hard work is essential in everything. That’s why I’m able to do what I wanted to do ever since I was a kid.”

Dybala and Messi comparisons: “I hate comparisons. Dybala should be Dybala. He has the potential to be one of the best in the world, but he needs to be left to get on with it.”

Family: “My mother always told me that it was better people talk about me, whether it is good or bad, and that I should start to worry when they don’t. From my father, who was a lawyer, I inherited mental strength, malice and the way to annoy defenders, but that’s a secret.”

Motivation: “Playing at the Juventus Stadium is amazing. Before you go on to the pitch you see all these photos of Platini, Baggio, Zidane, Del Piero, and you think: ‘How am I not going it my all in this shirt’?”
