CSL plotting another major signing: Diego Maradona
The same intermediaries who secured Carlos Tévez for Shanghai Shenhua want the Argentinean legend to coach grass roots football in China.
China’s plans to establish the country as a force in global football have taken another bold step with the government aiming to tempt none other than Diego Maradona to oversee the development of clubs, coaches and players in a wide-ranging role that could broadly be described as a national football adviser.
Maradona considering Chinese offer
Maradona, who currently resides in Dubai, is considering the offer, which was presented by the same intermediaries who arranged the record-breaking transfer of Carlos Tévez from Boca Juniors to Shanghai Shenhua.
“We have been studying the proposal for some time. The same people who took Tévez to China are very interested in hiring Diego. We have given them the OK and talks are at a very advanced stage,” Matías Morla, Maradona’s lawyer, told Diario Popular. “We’ll have to see how it all pans out. The Chinese group are talking to Diego’s people in Dubai because they know each other and I am sure that if everything continues in this way Diego will be in China by the end of the year.”
