Attempted robbery gone wrong
A retired policeman shot dead two of Marcos Rojo's cousins in an act of self-defence, as they attempted to rob him at a cash point in La Plata, Argentina.
According to Argentine newspaper Clarín, the incident took place at around 22:00 on Sunday evening.
Aníbal Díaz, a 50 year old ex-policeman, was approached by the two men as he left a cash machine in the San Carlos district of the coastal city. He opened fire at the robbers, Iván Rodrigo Barboza (26 years old) and Gerónimo Rojo (17 years old) as he sought to defend himself. Barboza died at the scene, while Rojo passed away in a local hospital in the early hours of Monday morning.
