20,000 dollars to watch Real Madrid - Barcelona in Miami. Yes. You read that right. 20,000 dollars (more than 18,000 euros). At least that's the amount one vendor is hoping to rake in for a ticket for the Clásico on 29 July in Miami at the Hard Rock stadium. The ticket, supposedly for the Upper Prime 440 secion, is listed on re-sale site StubHub, along with a wide range of others, going for anywhere between $640 in the Upper End zone, through to the $20,000 option.
Real Madrid - Barcelona: best value tickets
According to StubHub the best value option is a pack of 2 to 4 tickets, at $5,400 each, all-inclusive, in the Club section.
El Clásico Miami: tickets on sale from 17 March
Curiously the tickets don't even go on pre-sale to the public until 17 March and the general sale starts on 20 March. What's not explained is how the sellers are going to get their hands on the tickets, but it's likely they are hoping to pick them up in the public sale and then sell them on at what could be an eye-watering profit.
Real Madrid - Barcelona organised by Relevant Sports
The aim of the organisers of the event, Relevant Sports, was to make the most 'affordable' ticket cost $200, with a possibility of reducing that further to $150. The VIP seats were expected to cost $1,000. However if the already existing resale offer is an accurate prediction of what fans would be willing to pay for the tickets the organisers may feel they are leaving a lot of money on the table, and look to reprice.
Real Madrid's Butragueño: "The best game in the world"
As Real Madrid's director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, said: "Real Madrid - Barcelona is the best game in the world, it's the most special match any football fan can see". Some sellers on StubHub are clearly thinking that is exactly the case.
