Emilio Butragueño admitted Real Madrid had been hoping for better luck in the Champions League quarter-final draw after being paired with Bayern Munich.

And speaking from Nyon on Friday, Real's director of institutional relations added that neither side will be happy to be facing each other in the last eight.

The mouth-watering clash between the fierce continental rivals sees Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti come up against the club he led to the 2014 European title.

Here's what Butragueño had to say:

Initial assessment: "[Bayern are] one of the worst opponents we could have drawn. That's the case for them too. We know each other very well."

Tough tie: "We know how difficult it's going to be. We'd have liked to meet them further on in the competition, but it's a special tie."

Good to have the second leg at home? "It is if we get a good result over there. They have top players and 20 good minutes for Bayern can be lethal."

Reunion with Ancelotti: "Carlo's a fantastic coach with vast experience. He has won it all as a coach. We have a great relationship, he's a gentleman."
