Real Madrid have announced their squad for the Liga week 30 match away to Leganés, which kicks off at Butarque at 21:30 on Wednesday 5 April. The clear message from manager Zinedine Zidane is that with an exceptionally busy month, key players will have to be rested for the so-called lesser games. With Leganés just outside the relagation zone, they fall into this category.
No Cristiano or Bale
The three big ommisions from this game include two of the famed BBC, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, along with regular midfield maestro, Toni Kroos. The hope will be that they can be firing on all cylinders for upcoming games against Atlético, Bayern and Barça. This also gives a chance for fringe players - including young striker Mariano - to show what he can offer to the team. With much being made recently about the relative ineffectiveness of the big three up front, and the importance of more subtely creative players like Isco, Zidane may also see this rotation necessity as a chance to find other attacking solutions.
Real Madrid squad:
Goalkeepers: Navas, Casilla, Yáñez.
Defenders: Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Nacho, Marcelo, Danilo.
Midfielders: James, Casemiro, Kovacic, Modric, Asensio, Isco.
