Valencia: Interested in Camacho but paying close attention to Coquelin
Valencia are very keen on signing a defensive midfielder and they are currently whittling down a list of names with Coquelin and Camacho prominent on that list.
Following news that Marcelino would take over from Voro at the end of the season in Valencia's dugout and with news that Carlos Soler has renewed his contract with the club, the side are now keen to get to work finding a defensive midfielder. Two of the names mentioned as potential arrivals are Ignacio Camacho of Malaga and Francis Coquelin of Arsenal.
Alesanco already asked in January about the possibility of signing Camacho. Valencia are aware of his buyout clause as it is stated in his contract: €18 million but they want to get the fee closer to the region of €12 and €15 million.
The club sold Andre Gomes, Shokdran Mustafi and Paco Alcacer last summer and and would need to make to sign the player before July 1 to ensure it fell within FIFA's Financial Fair Play.
Coquelin struggling to hold down a place at Arenal
In addition to watching Camacho, Valencia are tracking Frances Coquelin. The 26-year-old has only played in 37 matches this season with very few completed games. The French midfielder arrived at Arsenal in 2008 and spent three loan spells at Lorient, Freiburg and Charlton.
Valencia have five midfielders in Mario Suarez, Nico Pareja, Enzo Perez, Medran and Carlos Soler. Suarez will return to Watford at the end of the season, Nico Pareja could be moved on along with Enzo Perez depending on how they impress Marcelino when he takes over for the preseason. Medran will also fight for his spot in the squad. Soler is very much expected to feature in Marcelino's squad and with that new contract until 2021, he has a place in the future of the club.
